We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Shady Side, MD. We are happy that you have taken the time to explore into the ministries, programs and staff of our church, which has a 138 year history in Shady Side. We are hopeful that our excitement about what the Lord is doing here will excite you, too. And know that you are welcome to come and visit us any Sunday during our 10:45 a.m. worship service. St. Matthews is wheelchair-accessible throughout and the church pews are arranged to ensure adequate space for all.
St. Matthews prides itself in being a church that reflects the Fruit of the Spirit. We are working diligently to show love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control. We are not perfect, but with God’s help we are getting closer every day.

Rev. Lesley Newman-Adams joined our community July 2023. Today, she leads our congregation in faithful living and community service.
